Treatable conditions
A variety of conditions can benefit from Hand or Occupational Therapy. They include:
- Cumulative Trauma including the following: Carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, nerve syndromes, Tennis Elbow, handlebar palsy, De Quervain's disease, trigger finger, and Intersection syndrome.
- Nerve compression is evaluated with applicable tests and treated accordingly.
- Nerve injuries including radial, medial, and Ulnar nerve involvement following injury or trauma.
- Wrist evaluation and treatment for fractures, disease, syndromes, including evaluation of the wrist after surgical intervention.
- Skin grafts can be treated following hematoma excision or exposed tendon to include full and split thickness skin grafting.
- Wound evaluation of healing stages, wound classification, antibiotic indications, and appropriate wound dressings.
- Treatment for Dupuytren's disease following surgical removal of the palmar fascia. Patients are seen for wound care, splint fabrication to maintain extension at previously contracted joint level, followed by scar intervention and strengthening.
- Fractures to include humeral, forearm, carpal, metacarpal, proximal and interphalangeal including those with pins and plates.
- Arthritis; Rheumatoid and Osteoarthritis. Patients are seen following corrective surgical interventions and treated according to protocol.
- Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy
- Tendon repairs of thumb and digits.
